What kinds of products do you offer?
We offer three main product lines: custom handmade pens crafted from materials you send us (like clothing or sentimental objects), ready-to-order handmade pens available for immediate purchase, and handmade wooden gifts including bowls, utensils, and other one-of-a-kind items.
Are all of your pens truly handmade?
Yes — every single pen is handmade. We use a process called lathe turning: each blank is carefully selected, cut, drilled, mounted on a lathe, shaped by hand, sanded through multiple fine grits, and then polished and assembled. No two pens are exactly alike.
What are your ready-to-order pens made from?
Ready-to-order handmade pens are crafted from high-quality materials such as hardwoods, acrylics, and resin blanks. Each one is shaped, sanded, polished, and assembled by hand — making them durable, smooth-writing, and distinctively styled.
What wooden gifts do you make?
We create handmade bowls, utensils, and other wooden items using traditional lathe-turning techniques. Each piece begins as a carefully selected piece of wood and is shaped by hand, revealing unique grain patterns and warmth that mass production simply cannot replicate. They make for timeless, meaningful gifts.
How do custom pens from loved ones’ materials work?
You send us your materials — fabric from a favorite t-shirt, leather from a beloved jacket, wood from a family cabin or cherished piece of furniture — and we turn them into a one-of-a-kind pen. Every time you pick it up, it carries the memory of that person or place with it.
What materials can I send in for a custom pen?
The possibilities are almost endless. Popular materials include clothing (t-shirts, aprons, sweaters), shoes or boots, leather items, sentimental pieces of wood, and furniture. If you’re unsure whether your material works, just reach out and we’ll talk through it.
Can I choose the pen style and finish?
Absolutely. You choose your pen style, select your preferred metal finishes, and can add any available add-ons. Each custom pen is unique, and we’ll work with you to make sure it’s exactly what you envision.
How much does a custom pen cost?
Custom pen pricing starts at $50. Because every pen is unique and pricing depends on the materials and complexity, we provide a free quote before you commit. Fill out our form, tell us about your project, and we’ll get back to you with a quote and next steps.
How do I get started with a custom pen order?

SHIPPING
How quickly will my order ship?
For ready-to-order pens, we aim to ship within 48 hours of your order. Lead times can vary — especially during the holiday season — so we appreciate your patience during busy periods.
How are orders shipped, and how long does delivery take?
All orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail. Once you receive your tracking email, your package typically arrives within 3–4 days.
Do you ship internationally?
No, we do not currently ship internationally.
What if my package is lost or stolen?
We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages once they have been handed off to USPS. We strongly recommend double-checking that your shipping address is correct at checkout to avoid any delays or delivery issues.
How do I make sure my order arrives correctly?
Please carefully review your shipping address before completing your order. An incorrect address is one of the most common causes of shipping delays, and we want to make sure your pen gets to you without a hitch.
RETURNS & REFUNDS
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of purchase. Items must be unused, in their original condition, in original packaging, and accompanied by a receipt or proof of purchase. Before sending anything back, you must contact us first to confirm eligibility.
How do I start a return or exchange?

What items are not eligible for return?
Gift cards are non-returnable. Items that are not in their original condition, or are damaged or missing parts due to reasons not caused by our error, may only qualify for a partial refund.
How and when will I receive my refund?
Once we receive and inspect your return, we’ll email you to confirm whether your refund has been approved. If approved, the refund will be issued to your original payment method. Please allow a few business days for the credit to appear, as processing times vary by bank or card issuer.
Do you offer exchanges?
We replace items only if they are defective or damaged upon arrival. Once an order has been processed and shipped, we’re unable to accommodate changes to color, type, or preference. To request an exchange for a damaged item, email us at vern@vernmakes.com.
Who pays for return shipping?
Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs. Original shipping and handling fees are non-refundable, and a restocking fee will be deducted from any refund issued. For items valued over $75, we strongly recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance, as we cannot guarantee receipt of returned items.
